Monstera Thai Constellation Care Guide

Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation'

By the Plantshop.com Editorial Team · Updated · How we research · Report an error

Thai Constellation is a tissue-cultured Monstera deliciosa with creamy, speckled variegation across the leaf (not the large white sectors of an albo). It needs brighter light than a plain Monstera to keep the cream from greening out, and it usually costs more because every plant starts from culture.

Light

Bright indirect light; protect from harsh midday sun so creamy variegation does not scorch. Rotate the pot every few weeks so growth stays even.

Water

When the top 1-2 in (2.5-5 cm) of soil is dry; variegated tissue uses less water than all-green Monstera. Always use a pot with drainage holes and empty the saucer after watering. Plants use far less water in winter.

Humidity and temperature

Humidity: average to high; 50%+ helps new leaves open cleanly. Most houseplants prefer 60-80°F (16-27°C) and dislike cold drafts and heating vents.

Soil and feeding

Use a well-draining potting mix with bark or perlite for air. Feed lightly in spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer at half strength; skip feeding in winter.

Our tip

Give it a moss or coir pole and bright, even light. Large cream patches photosynthesize less, so do not let the pot stay wet.

Common problems

Pets

Toxic to cats and dogs (ASPCA lists Monstera deliciosa). Check the ASPCA plant list. If a pet chews it and shows symptoms, call your vet or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center. Check any plant in our Pet-Safe Plant Checker.
